GROUP BASED

This was our first assignment for CTS. We were assigned to make a Disney themed interactive cube in 4 weeks time. The purpose of this assignment is to understand a certain topic deeper and to interpret in the way that other people would understand as well. The Disney cube is also created as a means to interact with the story and make some reconstructions to it.

The name of my group was Beyonce Lay Eggs At Hydepark, which was a combination of a celebrity's name, an action and a location. The group members are Qaezie, Yoon, Melvin, Jane, Beela, Joanna, and me.

The making process

In order to begin constructing the cube, my group members and I had a brainstorming session where we wrote anything that came into our heads and compared the ideas with each other later. After presenting our individual ideas, we had come to a common ground on picking a game theme for the cube. This is because we all agreed on it being simultaneously informative and engaging. The ideas that we compiled were then written down on our respective idea journals in order to keep track of them.

The challenges faced

The first challenge we had faced was the conflicting opinions on how the game should be but after a thorough discussion we had agreed on it being a spin off of the classic tabletop game, Beer Pong.

After that, we were faced with a technical problem which was the design of the levels. We thought the game was too easy to win and did not impose a challenge for the players.

The issue was quickly resolved when we all agreed on making removable pieces that indicate different levels. As the levels increased, the difficulty of the game increased as well. By doing this, we had made the game more engaging for people to play and experience.

Final thoughts

DID I ENJOY THIS?

Yes, I enjoyed doing this assignment as I was able to contribute by sharing my ideas and be a part of a creation with a meaning.

Building the cube and coming up with a final idea was not an easy task to do but eventually we all came together and decided on it without any prior argument or conflicts arising. We were really happy with the result of our hardwork. To make things even better, we were the first group to present our work!
